Mary Elizabeth (Mooney) Borgschulte, 76, of Eureka died Sept. 1, 2023. Mrs. Borgschulte grew up in St. John and graduated from Ritenour High School. She met her husband while attending Southeast Missouri College (now SEMO) in Cape Girardeau. She was a devout Christian and a longtime member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Eureka. She is remembered for her mischievous sense of humor, her joy and loving nature. Born March 13, 1947, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of Carol M. (Willhite) and Robert F. Mooney.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years: Dorwood Borgschulte Jr.; three children: Dorwood (Amy) Borgschulte III, Heather (David) Machicao and Christiane (Matthew) Bracht; four grandchildren: Jack (Casandra) Borgschulte, Juliet Borgschulte and Hannah and Gwendolyn Bracht; one great-granddaughter: Elena Borgschulte; and numerous family members and friends. She was preceded in death by two brothers: Michael and James Mooney.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 500 Meramec Blvd., in Eureka. Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until a funeral service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, at the church. Burial is in the Bethel Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Schrader Funeral Home.
