Kay Anita Johnson, 84, of House Springs, formerly of Pevely, died May 1, 2025, at her home. Mrs. Johnson worked as a dental assistant with the late Dr. Donald Hargis in Arnold for 32 years alongside several coworkers who became lifelong friends. Born April 4, 1941, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Pearl (Tinius) and Joseph Schwartz.
She is survived by her husband: Ben Johnson; two daughters: Debbie (Duane) Lawson of House Springs and Kerri (Tom) Schopp of St. Louis; four grandchildren: Wade Lawson, Grant Schopp, Skyeler Barrie-Smith and Austin Barrie; and many other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by a daughter: Cheryl (the late Lowell Brent) Nickless; and two brothers: Ronald Clyde (Iris survives) Schwartz and Donald Leslie (the late Floella "Jeannie") Schwartz.
A graveside service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, in Shepherd Hills Cemetery in Barnhart, officiated by Pastor Mark McMullin. Memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
