Gary Burton Shanks, 68, Festus

Gary Burton Shanks, 68, of Festus died April 16, 2023, at Festus Manor. Mr. Shanks worked as a machine operator for many years. He enjoyed watching auto racing, especially NASCAR racing, as well as cooking, camping, and horseback riding in his younger years. He also enjoyed visiting breweries with his daughter. Born Dec. 11, 1954, in St. Louis, he was the son of Carolyn (Pond) Shanks of Hillsboro and the late Russell Shanks.

He is survived by a daughter: Jessica Shanks of New York, N.Y.; a brother: Rusty Shanks of Festus; two sisters: Sherry Shanks of Farmington and Rhonda Asis of Calif.; and many other family members and friends.

A memorial gathering will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, April 20, at Mahn Funeral Home Twin City Chapel, 515 Collins Ave., in Festus. Entombment will be in Peaceful Ridge Mausoleum in De Soto. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home.
