Hosner, Wilma

Wilma "Jean" (Caviecy) Hosner, 88, formerly of Hematite, died Aug. 3, 2025, at Cedarhurst in Arnold. Mrs. Hosner worked as a teacher for Crystal City High School and Jefferson College. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, dancing, doing puzzles, coloring and playing Sudoku. She was a member of Our Lady Catholic Church in Festus, American Legion Post 253 Auxiliary, VFW Post 3777 Auxiliary and the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary. She will be remembered for her sense of humor and sassy attitude. Born Oct. 13, 1936, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late William and Lilly (Ruble) Caviecy.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years: Joseph August Hosner, whom she married on Sept. 14, 1957.

She is survived by five children: Kathleen (Paul) Firle of Crystal City, Gwen (Calvin) Chambers of Dora, William (Julie) Hosner of Arnold, Ramona (Dave McDonald) Ferguson of Crystal City and Robert (Mandy) Hosner of Crestwood; 10 grandchildren: Luke Firle, Mark (Cassie) Firle, Matthew (Lisa) Warren, Robert (Tammie) Ferguson, Josh (Samantha) Boyer, Nathan (Kriston) Reynolds, Michayla Boyer, Toby Hosner, Ty Hosner, and Zeke Hosner, nine great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.

Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, at Mahn Twin City Chapel, 515 Collins Ave., in Festus. A funeral Mass is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, at Our Lady Catholic Church, 1550 Saint Mary’s Lane, in Festus, officiated by Father Steve Lian. Burial will follow in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to Our Lady Catholic Church-James II Project. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Twin City Chapel.
