Willie Mae Blyzes, 96, of Pevely died Nov. 24, 2025, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mrs. Blyzes was a member of the United Pentecostal Church. She was strong in her faith and loved Jimmy Swaggart. Born Dec. 24, 1928, in East Prairie, she was the daughter of the late Rose (Evans) and Jonathan H. Roach.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Trentis “Paul” Blyzes.
She is survived by three daughters: Carmen Wilson of Bloomsdale, Yvonne (Sidney) Wright of Festus and Lorraine “Yvette” Townsend of Pevely; 12 grandchildren: Candice Kist, William (Bridget) Hempel, Amanda (Scott) Baker, Angela (Ronald) Lewis, Cynthia Carmack, Donald Ney Jr., Yolonda Townsend, Reacha (Rick) Sadler, Tyler (Sabrina) Millien, Rebecca Chatfield, Jennifer Ruch and Lana Rose James; 22 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by a daughter: Paula Broombaugh; a granddaughter: Brandie Townsend; two sisters; and five brothers.
Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. until a service at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8, at Vinyard Hillcrest Funeral Home, 9115 Commercial Blvd., in Pevely. Interment will follow in Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crystal City. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Hillcrest Funeral Home.
