Friebel, William

William L. Friebel Sr., 73, of Labadie died April 18, 2025, in Washington. Mr. Friebel loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a passionate drag racer and car enthusiast. His talents included mechanics and being able to fix anything, as well as being “master of the grill,” smoking meats and grilling perfect steaks. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, especially to New Orleans to sample their cuisine. He will be remembered for his deep loyalty, skillfulness and caring nature. Born Aug. 30, 1951, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Viola (Burgan) and William Friebel.

He is survived by his wife: Karen (McManness) Friebel; two children: Bill (Lisa) Friebel and Tim (Jen) Friebel; five grandchildren: Will Friebel, Hannah Friebel, Nicholas Friebel, Jake Friebel and Zach Friebel; a brother-in-law: Jerry Radeackar; and numerous family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by a sister: Ann Radeackar.

A memorial visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Hwy. 30, in Cedar Hill. Memorials may be made to St. Martin United Church of Christ in High Ridge. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary.
