Wallace Daniel Smith Sr., 87, of Pevely died Sept. 28, 2025, at his home. Mr. Smith dedicated his career to skilled trades, working as a welder and machinist for both St. Joe Lead and American Steel. A true outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and gardening. He especially loved watching the Purple Martins nest in the birdhouse he built in his front yard. He also loved his cats and spending time with his grandchildren. Born Aug. 28, 1938, in Shreveport, La., he was the son of William Dewey and Beatrice Kay (Kite) Smith.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Nancy Sue Smith.

He is survived by a son: Wallace Daniel (Deanna) Smith Jr. of House Springs; four daughters: Christine (Bryan) Wilson of Festus, Theresa Hopkins of De Soto, Carolyn Blaylock of Crystal City and Karen McPhearson of Grandberry, Texas; a brother: Randy K. (Nancy) Smith of Festus;16 grandchildren: Patricia Tuner, Veronica (Tim) Gunther, Britney (Dustin) Gassier, Corey Gassier, Rachel (Justin) Faulkner, Austin Smith, Steven Blaylock, Amanda White, Justine Wedde, Seth DeClue, Tasha Cummings, Sunny Cummings, DJ Moon, Rhonda Dobbs, Jessica Hicks and Destiny Hicks; 16 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other family members and friends.

He also was preceded in death by a son-in-law: Raymond Blaylock; and two brothers: William C. "Duck" Smith and Edward M. Smith Sr.

Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, at Mahn Twin City Chapel, 515 Collins Ave., in Festus. A funeral service is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
