Virginia Rose “Ginny” McFarland-Lucas, 95, of Festus died Nov. 9, 2025, at her home. Mrs. McFarland-Lucas worked at Pittsburgh Plate Glass for many years and retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1991. A lifelong member of Our Lady Catholic Church in Festus, she was a matriarch who remained active throughout life. In her later years, she enjoyed spending time with family, friends and playing cards, defeating her top nemesis, her daughter Kay, in the last game she played. Born Feb. 24, 1930, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Phillip Chauncey and Rosemary (Uhrich) Miller.
She was preceded in death by her first husband: Harry H. McFarland; and her second husband: Glenn H. Lucas.
She is survived by a daughter: Kay (Bryan) Hayes of Festus; a son-in-law: Michael Bagley of De Soto; four stepsons: David J. (Jeanie) McFarland of Festus, Terry G. Lucas of Crystal City, Randall K. Lucas of Festus and Brent L. (Karen) Lucas of Barnhart; 11 grandchildren: Kelly Patterson, Jamie (Hiroshi) McMurray, Brian (Maureen) Wynn, Russell (Chelsea) Herrell, Shannon (Daniel) Hoehn, Michael Bagley, Jason Bagley, Molly Lucas, Mary Ann (Matthew) Robb, Travis (Dawn) Hayes, Camryn (Keegan) Bickel, Peggy (Chris) Cole and Kerry (George) Boswell; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister: Marlene Kerlagon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She also was preceded in death by a daughter: Coleen Grace (McFarland) Bagley; and a brother: Robert J. (Alene) Miller.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until a funeral Mass at noon Thursday, Nov. 13, at Our Lady Catholic Church, 1550 St. Mary's Lane, in Festus, officiated by Father Zach Povis. Internment will be in Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to Our Lady Catholic Church or Our Lady School. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
