
Verlon Murrell “Burr” Thurman, 93, of Imperial died June 27, 2025, at Woodlands of Arnold. Mr. Thurman served at Fort Leonard Wood during the Korean War. After his military service, he started in the car business. He enjoyed telling jokes and spending time with family and friends. He will be remembered as a nice person with a kind soul. Born May 10, 1932, he was the son of the late Fenton and Leona Thurman.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years: Joan Thurman.
He is survived by two sons: Joseph (Susie) Thurman and James Thurman; two grandchildren: Jeffrey Thurman and Laura (Aaron) McAntire; two great-grandchildren: Millie McAntire and Augie McAntire; and many nieces, nephews and other family members.
He was preceded in death by a brother: Burdette (Faith); and a sister: Alma.
Visitation is scheduled from 9:30 a.m. until services at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, July 17, at Heiligtag-Lang-Fendler Funeral Home, 1081 Jeffco Blvd., in Arnold. Interment will follow in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Arrangements are under the direction of Heiligtag-Lang-Fendler Funeral Home.
