Thelma (Brainard) Brooks, 85, of Fenton died March 3, 2026. Mrs. Brooks enjoyed many happy hours playing bingo and took pride in her embroidery work. She had a love for country music, especially when her husband was the one playing. Most of all, she loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. She will be remembered for her warmth and devotion. Born July 16, 1940, in Cortland, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Lester and Ruth (Morris) Brainard.
She was preceded in death by husband: Thomas “Tommy” Brooks.
She is survived by four children: Roy James (Roxanne) Brooks, Robert William (Trish) Brooks, Wesley Thomas Brooks and Cynthia Marie (Chris) Christenson; 13 grandchildren: Kelli, Chris, Bobby, Joe, Brandon, Amanda, Stevie, Rose, Wesley, William, Kymberly, Danny and Kira; 16 great-grandchildren: Ciara, Sean, William, Olive, Collins, Jayden, Rowan, Colton, Rhett, Trinity, Deacon, Haddie, Henry, Nolan, Vivi and Sunny; and a brother: Lester Brainard; and numerous other family members and friends.
She also was preceded in death by two siblings: Richard Brainard and Grace Moore.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Hwy. 30, in Cedar Hill. A funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, March 12, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Cedar Hill. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary.
