Terry W. Capstick, 78, of Festus, formerly of St. Louis, died May 23, 2026. Mr. Capstick served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and was a member of Amvets Post 42, VFW Post 3777 and Elks Lodge 1721. He was a former Patriot Guard Rider and tugboat pilot for the former St. Louis Fuel barge fueling company before he and his wife became the proprietors of Twin City Monument Company and the Picket Fence Gift Shop in Festus. He was known for his love of a good time and for his sense of humor, often wearing his pumpkin costume or snorkel goggles to get a good laugh from others. He loved spending time with friends and family, having lived with his sister for two periods of his life. Born July 31, 1947, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late LaJoy E. “Joyce” (Carter) and Lloyd Henry Capstick.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years: Judith Lynn “Judy” (Hartgraver) Capstick.
He is survived by a son: Todd M. (Dawn) Capstick of Festus; a daughter: Tiffany E. (Bryan) Kramer of Festus; a sister: Beverly Virginia Capstick of The Villages, Fla.; a half-brother: Leroy (Jamie) Topel Jr. of St. Louis; and two grandchildren: Teagan M. Capstick and Wyatt C. Kramer.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until services at 2 p.m. Friday, May 29, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus, officiated by Pastor Chad Smith. Burial with full military honors will follow in Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to Friends of Fisher House St. Louis, P.O.
