McClanahan, Susan

Susan Marie (Jokisch) McClanahan, 78, of De Soto died January 26, 2026, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Ms. McClanahan worked as a stocker at Walmart, where she was known for her strong work ethic throughout the 30 years she was there. Outside of work, she enjoyed tending to her yard, especially caring for her plants and flowers. She was an avid reader, a devoted dog lover and enjoyed cooking for those she loved. Most of all, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Born June 17, 1947, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late James Jokisch and Dorothy (Biller) Jokisch.

She is survived by a son: Sean (Angela) McClanahan of Ballwin; a daughter: Cara (Chris) Kirby-House of De Soto; four brothers: Rick (Cyd) Jokisch of Raymore, Steve Jokisch of Festus, Gary Jokisch of St. James and Dave (Linda) Jokisch of Shawnee, Kan.; a sister: Laura Giger of St. Clair; eight grandchildren: Tyler (Emily) McClanahan, Caitlyn (Alex) Sextro, Brooke Kirby, Tori (Dan) Barton, Anna Chickey, Brendan Kirby, Blake House and Jack McClanahan; seven great-grandchildren: Peyton, Zelie, Riggins, Teegan, Zion, Reid and Ruth; along with numerous other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by two sisters: Janet Daniels and Linda Burns.

Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. until services at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at Mahn Twin City Chapel, 515 Collins Ave., in Festus, officiated by Father Zac Povis. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Crystal City. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Twin City Chapel.
