Davis, Stanley

Stanley Poole Davis, 84, of Midwest City, Okla., formerly of Festus, died Dec. 6, 2025, in Midwest City, Okla. Mr. Davis worked for 38 years at P.P.G. Industries. He served as a medic in the U.S. Air Force from 1960 to 1964. He was a devout Methodist and born-again Christian who was active with local Bible studies and church groups. After retirement, he spent many years writing memoirs of his time growing up in the Festus area, chronicling life in America just after WWII. He became a published author of the science-fantasy book “A Sword of Mist and Memory.” He loved spending time with his family, especially his children. Born Aug. 10, 1941, in Festus, he was the son of the late Majorie Sue Poole and Stanley Frederick Davis. 

He is survived by his wife of 25 years: Jackie Davis of Warner Robins, Ga.; three children: Chris (Adora) Davis of Tulsa, Okla., Mark (Valerie) Davis of Topeka, Kan., and Maleah (Cliff) Rowe of Midwest City, Okla.; two siblings: Sheryl Davis of Redlands, Calif., and Susan Kuhlemeyer of Freeport, Ill.; seven grandchildren: Alexi (Taylor) Eisner of Oklahoma City, Okla., Aleigh Rowe, Alec (Parker) Davis, Anna Rowe, Emilie Davis, Caden (Kylie) Davis and Katie Davis; and two great-grandchildren: Auden Eisner and Kallan Eisner. 

Services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, May 30, in Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens, 1101 Missouri Ave., in Crystal City, officiated by Caden Davis, a U.S. Air Force Honor Guard. Burial will be in Tulsa, Okla. Memorials may be made to the Festus High School Library Media Center, 1515 Mid-Meadow Lane, Festus, 63028.
