Shirley Gorse Koerner, 87, of Marquand died May 20, 2024. Mrs. Koerner was a member of St. John's Lutheran of Arnold and Zion Lutheran Church of Marquand. She enjoyed hunting and picking blackberries. She lover her flowers and birds and her faith. Born Jan. 4, 1937, in Kimmswick, she was the daughter of the late August and Ethel Kleinschmidt.
She was preceded in death by her first husband: Dave Gorse.
She is survived by her husband who she married on Dec. 15, 2012: Robert Koerner; three sons: Timothy (the late Marla) Gorse, Daniel (Vickie) Gorse and Perry (Arlene) Gorse; a step-son: Robert (Stephanie) Koerner; a daughter: Nora Bollinger; a step-daughter: Lisa Bacon; a brother: Harold (Pat) Kleinschmidt; nine grandchildren: Tara Messer, Mike Gorse, Lydia Ball, Claudia Gorse, Naomi Turner, Jessie Gorse, Stacy Gorse, Nicole Bollinger and Lauren Bollinger; nine great-grandchildren: Taylor Seymour, Jacob Gorse, Jolene Messer, Josiah Turner, Elijah Turner, Hannah Turner, Abigail Turner, Jeremiah Gorse and Joel Ortega.
She also was preceded in death by a son: Paul Gorse; two sisters: Arlene Hoffman and Janice Gravis; and a brother: Orvin Kleinschmidt.
Services were held May 23 at Zion Lutheran Church in Marquand. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or the Mission Fund, 601 Kingsbury Blvd., Fredericktown, 63645. Arrangements were under the direction of Follis and Sons Funeral Home in Fredericktown.
