Sheridan Ann Goodwin, 82, of De Soto died Aug. 9, 2025, at her home. Mrs. Goodwin was a school librarian, a respected childcare provider to many local families before becoming a housekeeper at Jefferson Memorial Hospital for many years. After retirement, she continued to care for her family and spent time with her husband and her three grandsons. Sheridan was most fulfilled when serving others and the Lord. Born Feb. 27, 1943, in De Soto, she was the daughter of Glenn and Edith (LaPlant) Ames.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years: Robert Allen Goodwin Sr.
She is survived by two sons: Robert A. Goodwin Jr. of De Soto and Michael (Lisa) Goodwin of De Soto; three grandsons: Robert T.D. (Megan Rost) Goodwin, Colton Goodwin and Chance Goodwin; two siblings: Glenn Edward “Ed” (Bobbye) Ames of Wentzville and Mary Katherine (David) Wade of Festus; two sisters-in-law: Sandra (Harold) Maness and Patricia Goodwin; many nieces and nephews; numerous friends; and her Agape Faith Church family.
A memorial service for Mrs. Goodwin and her husband, who died on July 29, 2023, will take place at the Agape Faith Church in Valles Mines at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home in De Soto.
