Scott Gerard Hutson, 60, of Festus died June 4, 2026. Mr. Hutson attended the former Sacred Heart Grade School, was a 1984 graduate of St. Pius X High School and was a member of Our Lady Catholic Church in Festus and Knights of Columbus Council 1230. He also was a member of the Glaziers Local Union 513 for nearly 40 years. He loved music (especially Merle Haggard, Bob Seger and The Rolling Stones), listening to his son play guitar, being outdoors and going to the YMCA. Born Feb. 20, 1966, in St. Louis, he was the son of Richard and Janet J. (Roth) Hutson of Festus.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 34 years: Angela K. (Newman) Hutson; a son: Payton Hutson of Festus; three sisters: Dena (Raymond) Skiera of Festus, Sheryl (Rick) Bayers of Festus and Shelly (Ronald) Stillman of Festus; his parents-in-law: John and Rose (Fly) Newman of Exeter; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Raymond and Viola (Grass) Roth; and his close friend: Donald “Stringer” Straughn.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, June 11, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus. A funeral Mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, June 12, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 555 Bailey Road, in Crystal City, officiated by Father Zac Povis. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to the Neonatal Intensive Care Units of either St. Louis Children’s Hospital or Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
