
Sandra “Sandy” (Giegerich) Nickels, 63, of High Ridge died Sept. 11, 2025. Mrs. Nickels loved spending time with her family, particularly baking blueberry muffins and cookies with her grandkids. She was known to never be too busy to make a brief (or lengthy) phone call to her daughters and sisters or go on a shopping trip, especially if it was to the grocery store. Born May 27, 1962, in St. Louis, and was the third of seven children.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years: Anthony 'Tony' Nickels; two daughters: Holly Nickels and Elizabeth (Joshua) Whitelaw; two grandchildren: Finley and Violet Whitelaw; Erwin and Clara Nickels, whom she always referred to as mom and dad; five siblings: Velma (Jim) Tharp, Mary (Jim) Layton, Regina (Ricky) Autry, Belinda (John) Hiatt and Richard Giegerich Jr.; a sister and brother-in-law: Deborah and Michael Ford; and many other family members, friends and pets.
She was preceded in death by a sister: Charlotte Giegerich; and Mrs. and Mr. Richard Giegerich.
A private graveside service was held Sept. 23 in Shepherd Hills Cemetery.
