Ruth Queen, 95, of De Soto died Nov. 26, 2023, at her home. Mrs. Queen was a homemaker and babysitter. Born July 22, 1928, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Effie (Merritt) and James Scott.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Edwin L. Queen Sr.
She is survived by a son: Edwin L “Ed” (Martha) Queen Jr. of De Soto; a daughter: Brenda K. (Mark) Lorenz of West Lafayette, Ind.; seven grandchildren: Brad (Lisa) Queen, Chad (Kim) Queen, Kristi (Jason) Bourisaw, Jennifer (Mike) Golightly, Matt (Rachel) Queen, Ben Lorenz and Adam (Eileen) Lorenz; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild on the way.
She also was preceded in death by two sisters: Frances (Herbert) Kuhl and Earlene (Earl) Edwards; and three brothers: Ralph (Audrey) Scott, Jesse (Reva) Scott and Donald Scott.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until a funeral service at noon Thursday, Nov. 30, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main, in De Soto, officiated by Gene Smith. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 9370 Olive Blvd., St. Louis 63132, or Smile Train, 633 Third Avenue, 9th Floor, New York 10017. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
