RoyLee H. “Buzz” Boxdorfer, 88, of Festus died Sept. 10, 2024, at Hillcrest Care Center in De Soto. Mr. Boxdorfer was a member of the Local 88 Meatcutters Union for 36 years. He was in the Naval Reserves and was a life member of the American Legion. He enjoyed everything about cars, fishing and watching football. He loved spending time with family and friends. Born May 7, 1936, in Perryville, he was the son of the late Rosella (Bell) and Edwin Boxdorfer.

He is survived by his wife: Carole (Cretin) Boxdorfer; four children: Dennis (Tina) Boxdorfer of Festus, Debbie (Mitchell) Benoist of Festus, Michele Trask of De Soto and Timothy (Brenda) Boxdorfer of De Soto; eight grandchildren: Rachel (Scott) Pratt, Joshua Boxdorfer, Derek Boxdorfer, Nicole (George) Pizzo, Lance Benoist, Meagan Trask, Tony Trask and Kassandra Boxdorfer; 16 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his brother: Melvin (the late Loretta) Boxdorfer; and his grandson: Logan Benoist.

A memorial gathering is scheduled from 3 p.m. until a memorial service at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus, officiated by Pastor Kyle Castens. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Crystal City at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
