Roy H. Perstrope, 87, of Hillsboro died Jan. 29, 2026, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mr. Perstrope was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Hillsboro and a lifelong farmer. He had a love for being outdoors and tending to the farm, where he worked side by side with his wife. Born June 28, 1938, in St. Louis County, he was the son of the late Ella (Franke) Perstrope Chrismer and Fred Perstrope. He was the stepson of the late Milton Chrismer, who raised him.
He is survived by his wife: Virginia E. (Dohack) Perstrope; a son: Roy M. (Gina) Perstrope of Hillsboro; a daughter: Linda J. (Kris) Mueller of Pevely; a brother: Gene (Sally) Perstrope of Imperial; a sister: Marilyn Chrismer of St. Charles; two grandchildren: Jeffrey Perstrope and Katie (Jacob) Brown; and numerous other family members and friends.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until funeral services at noon Thursday, Feb. 5, at Zion Lutheran Church of Hillsboro, 9700 Zion Lutheran Church Road, 63050, officiated by Pastor Mark Harris. Interment will follow in Shepherd Hills Cemetery in Barnhart. Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church of Hillsboro. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
