Robert Lee Carter, 89, of Pevely died March 14, 2026, at his home. Mr. Carter worked for Metropolitan Sewer for more than 30 years. He was an active member of One Assembly Church of Herculaneum. He enjoyed Cardinals baseball and basketball. Born June 23, 1936, in Zalma, he was the son of the late Lela (Mculster) and Walter Carter.
He is survived by his wife: Brenda (Faries) Carter; a daughter: Patricia Mae Brown of Festus; three grandchildren: Angela Maria Dawn Johnston, Chasity Elizabeth (Matthew) McGinty and Frank Robert Dwight (Stephanie Rhodes) Akin; six great-grandchildren: Haley Marie Akin, Skylar Jade Johnston, Paris Katana Johnston, Caleb Blade Johnston, Aiden Akin and Sadie Smiless; and a brother: June (Marie) Carter of Illinois.
He was preceded in death by a daughter: Karen Marie Akin; and a brother: Dole (Shirley survives of Jackson) Carter.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday, March 23, at One Assembly Church, 561 St. Joseph St., in Herculaneum. Visitation will resume from 8 a.m. until service at 9 a.m. Tuesday, March 24, at the church, officiated by Pastor Nick Melton. Interment will follow in Berrong Cemetery in Zalma. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
