Robert Glenn Yates, 78, of Center died June 28, 2024, at St. Louis University Hospital. Born Nov. 9, 1945, in St. Louis, Mr. Yates was the son of the late Genevieve Marie (Reichert) and Oliver Edward Yates.
He is survived by his wife: Elizabeth (Slenker) Yates; a son: Robert Glenn Yates II of Pacific; 11 siblings: Richard J. (Kathy) Yates of Horine, William O. (Lynne) Yates of De Soto, Thomas E. (the late Diana) Yates of Festus, Oliver E. (Carol) Yates Jr. of St. Charles; Edward O. (Renee) Yates of Herculaneum, John J. (the late Debbie) Yates of Horine, Judy Sharock of Pevely, Janice Cayou of Pevely, Gregory Yates of Terre Du Lac, Annette Jackson of Pevely and Russell Yates of Imperial; three grandchildren: Keith (Erica) Kossmeyer II, Nicole M. “Nikki” (Will) Towery and Cameron (Alex) Yates; and five great-grandchildren: Mollie Yates, Bennett Kossmeyer, Blair Kossmeyer, Sylus Towery and Skyler Towery.
He was preceded in death by a daughter: Kimberly Renee (Keith survives) Kossmeyer; and a brother: Darrell Yates.
Graveside service with full military honors is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, July 5, in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks, officiated by Pastor Terry Crank. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
