Cubbage, Robert

Robert G. Cubbage Jr., 71, of House Springs died Oct. 18, 2023, at his home. Mr. Cubbage will be remembered for being as gentle as he was strong. When he was young, he enjoyed being a Boy Scout and was proud when he achieved the level of Eagle Scout. He was a soldier’s soldier who served as a combat medic in Vietnam. He also was proud to be a part of General Curtis LeMay’s Strategic Air Command. Active in both the Masons and the Shriners, he took pride in his community involvement. He had a passion for the outdoors, enjoyed working with leather and had a special fondness for old trains. Above all else, he loved spending time with his family and service dog, fly fishing with his father in Ely, Minn., and smoking cigars with his friends. Born May 5, 1953, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Lucille and Robert Cubbage Sr.

He is survived by his wife: Brenda (Alley) Cubbage; service dog: Ely; and numerous family members and friends.

Visitation is scheduled for 10 a.m. until services at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Hwy. 30, in Cedar Hill. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A reception will follow at St. Martin’s UCC in Dittmer. Memorials may be made to Shriner’s Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary.
