Robert F. "Bob" Wilde, 85, of Charlotte, N.C., formerly of St. Louis, died Dec. 12, 2023. In his younger years, Mr. Wilde loved to fish and hunt. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. He had a long career as an over-the-road truck driver and retired from Yellow Freight Systems after 33 years of employment. Accumulating miles by land was only one of his many accomplishments in life. His love and hobby of aviation led him to earn his multi-engine pilot’s license, an achievement he was very proud of. He loved spending time with his family and had the ability to know exactly what his wife, Joyce, was thinking without a word being spoken. Growing up in the same area of Missouri, they enjoyed reminiscing back on decades of memories. Born Dec. 28, 1937, he was the son of the late Alma Loch and Arthur J. Wilde.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years: Joyce A. Statler Wilde, a daughter: Stephanie (Tim) Mankus; two sisters-in-law: Virginia Wilde and Jessie Wilde; and many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by two brothers: Arthur F. Wilde and John G. Wilde.
Services will be private. Burial will be in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Arrangements are under the direction of Kenneth W. Poe Funeral & Cremation Service in Charlotte, N.C.
