Robert Earl "Bob" Hopple Sr., 79, of De Soto died April 26, 2025, at his home. Mr. Hopple worked as a repairman for Chrysler and was a member of Redemption Point Church in Valles Mines. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, watching TV, cheering on his St. Louis Cardinals, tending to his home and driving around sightseeing. Born Feb. 24, 1946, in De Soto, he was the son of the late Roy Hopple and Thelma (Branch) Hopple.
He is survived by his wife of more than 59 years: Wanda Fay Hopple of De Soto; two sons: Robert E (Kristin Brown) Hopple Jr. of Bonne Terre and Michael W Hopple of Festus; a daughter: Rhonda (Dale) James of Cortez, Fla.; 14 grandchildren: Matthew, Sarah, Nicholas, Rebekah, Christopher, Tara, Eric, Zachary, Jacob, Kaden, Cary Jr., Lauren, Amy, and Austin; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother: Jess "Cookie" Hopple; and two sisters: Mildred "Sissy" Hutchings and Patsy Branch.
Visitation is scheduled for 1-4 p.m. Sunday, May 4, at Mahn Funeral Home, 900 N. Mahn St., in De Soto. Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, May 5, at the funeral home, officiated by Marty Harrison. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in De Soto. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home.
