Ricky David “Rick” Golden, 62, of Hillsboro died Aug. 18, 2024, at Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis County. Mr. Golden began his career working for Alco Controls Division Emerson Electric. After becoming an OTR truck driver for several companies, a medical issue forced him into disability retirement. He enjoyed being outdoors and hiking with his son, Sean. He loved fishing, hunting and mushroom hunting. At one stage of his life, he took up taxidermy, mounting many deer, fish and an elk for family and friends. He was an avid guitar player and owned several. He also was skilled in restoring older guitars, both acoustic and electric, and making electric ones from scratch. He maintained strong faith and loved Jesus. Born Aug. 19, 1961, in St. Louis, he was the son of the Rev. Donald Lee Golden of Hillsboro and the late Ruby Marie (Beck) Golden.
In addition to his father, he is survived by two children: Sean Michael Golden of St. Louis and Amy Lynn Golden of St. Louis; two siblings: Donald H. (Donna) Golden of Pevely and Judy Golden of Hillsboro; a nephew: Jeremy Golden of St. Louis; two nieces: Jessica Jestes and Rebecca Jestes of Valley Park; and many other family members and friends.
Services will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
