Richard Pete Acinelli, 83, of Imperial died July 23, 2026, at his home. Mr. Acinelli served in the U.S. Navy and was a proud veteran. He was a member of the Cement Masons Union Local 527 since 1963. In addition to spending time with his family and working, he also loved carving and drawing beautiful sketches, mostly of animals, since he loved the great outdoors. He also enjoyed going to the casinos weekly with his wife. Born February 4, 1943, on the Hill in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Rose (Sferlazza) and Eugene Acinelli.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years: Vivian (Wisdom) Acinelli; a daughter: Angela (Patrick) Barry of Imperial; a son: James Acinelli of Imperial; a brother: Gene (Theresa) Acinelli II; three nephews: Gene III, Alexander and Luka; two nieces: Becky (David) Certa and Lori Princivalli; and many cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
A memorial gathering is scheduled from 11 a.m. until services at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus. A celebration of life will follow from 2-5 p.m. at Arnold VFW, 2301 Church Road. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
