Chrismer, Ralph

Ralph Chrismer Jr., 79, of Imperial died Feb. 2, 2025. Mr. Chrismer worked as a police officer and later a detective for the St. Louis County Police Department for nearly 20 years. He also served in the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army Reserve, completing a more than 30-year career at the rank of command sergeant major. There, he shared qualities of integrity, respect and leadership to encourage others. Embarking on a third career, Ralph and his wife operated R&E Enterprises, a meeting planning firm that gave them opportunities to travel the country. Together they enjoyed exploring the country by car and making memories. His favorite clients were the farmers on the United Soybean Board and he could spend hours sharing stories, anecdotes and laughter. Through their business, they also gave back to the community by organizing fundraisers for local organizations. In his free time, he enjoyed many adventures with his closest friends. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, studying and painting birds and scuba diving. He also enjoyed baseball and photography. Most of all, he was devoted to and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be remembered for his great spirit, kindness, humor and quick wit. Born Dec. 24, 1945, in Arnold, he was the son of Mary Jane (Kladis) and Ralph Chrismer Sr.

He is survived by his wife: Elaine (Kliethermes) Chrismer; a child: Kari (Brian) Skrobonja; three grandchildren: Tyler (Taylor) Skrobonja, Malori (Rex) Rieger and Hannah Skrobonja; six great-grandchildren: Waylon, Audrey, McCoy, Ada, Sally Ann and Jude; seven siblings: Joan D’Ambrose, Judy Black, Jan (Stan) Davenport, Charles (Carol) Chrismer, Jill (Bob) Markham, Jim Chrismer and Laura Jean Holt; and many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by a child: Ralph “Trey” Chrismer III.

Services were held Feb. 7 at Kutis South County Chapel in St. Louis County. Arrangements were under the direction of Kutis South County Chapel.
