Phillip Victor Portwood Sr., 70, of Doniphan, formerly of De Soto, died Oct. 9, 2024, in Polar Bluff. Mr. Portwood was a member and retired from the United Auto Workers Chrysler Corporation and was a U.S. Air Force veteran. Born Nov. 7, 1953, he was the son of the late Violet Sharp (the late Rev. AD) Scroggins and Phillip M. (the late Angela Hogan) Portwood.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years: Nancy (Cooper) Portwood of Doniphan; five children: Phillip Portwood Jr., Mark (Linda) Portwood, James (Jill) Portwood, Greg (Keith) Portwood and Shauna (Greg) Vandedrink; eight grandchildren: Rebecca Portwood, Jessica (Levi) Pogue, Dylan Portwood, Alexis Lambert, Joseph (Brittny) Lambert, Alana Portwood, Bella Portwood and Jasper Portwood; six great-grandchildren: Aurora and Rhett Pogue, Jameson Portwood, Nora Heinemann, Apollo Lambert and LJ Portwood; eight siblings: Yonnie Coffman, Deborah Adamson, Alex (Connie) Portwood, Donna Pieber, Mary (Ricky) Steingruby, Danny (Terry) Scroggins, David (Carla) Scroggins and Amber Scroggins; a brother-in-law: Daniel (Cecelia) Cooper; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by three siblings: Lisa Portwood, Dale and Harry Scroggins.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Missouri. Arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan.
