Barnes, Peggy

Peggy Jean Barnes, 89, of Fenton died Oct. 1, 2024. Mrs. Barnes Peggy was known for her vibrant soul and deep love for music, particularly her love for Elvis. She will be remembered for her outgoing and gregarious nature. Born May 22, 1935, in Kirkmansville, Ky., she was the daughter of Alvie and Ima Jean (Rager) Willis.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years: David Maxwell Barnes, whom she married in 1952.

She is survived by three grandchildren: Eric (Deanna) Barnes, JoAnna Hays and Dana (Tim) Wallach; five great-grandchildren: Ava, William, Tyler, Elliot and Ali; a daughter-in-law: Suzanne Barnes of High Ridge; two brothers: Wayne (Margie) Willis of Whites Creek, Tenn., and Jim (Linda) Willis of Kirkmansville, Ky.; and many other family members and friends.

She also was preceded in death by a son: David Alan Barnes; a daughter: Anita “Sissy” Jean Francis; a great-grandson: Nathan Hays; two brothers: Michael Dale Willis and Gerald Willis; and a sister: Linda Watson.

A memorial is scheduled from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, at Gordon Park, Croft Building, 13545 N. Old Madisonville Road, in Crofton, Ky. Inurnment will take place at Ridge Top Cemetery in Crofton, Ky. Memorials may be made to National Share, Pregnancy and Infant Loss Support, 1600 Heritage Landing, Suite 109, St. Peters, Mo. 63303. Arrangements are under the direction of Valhalla Funeral Chapel, Crematory and Cemetery in St. Louis.
