Cassidy, Patricia

Patricia Ann Cassidy, 80, of House Springs died Aug. 19, 2024. Mrs. Cassidy enjoyed being married to her best friend, Ralph. They were college sweethearts who met while decorating a homecoming float for Arkansas State University. They married on August 21, 1965, in Blytheville, Ark. Their marriage was one week short of their fifty-ninth wedding anniversary. After marrying Ralph, the two moved to House Springs to begin their careers in education. Mrs. Cassidy was an educator and treasured the friendships with her colleagues she made in the 50 years she dedicated to public schools in Missouri. She began her career teaching at Northwest R-1 School District and worked for 30 years in elementary education. After her “retirement” as an educator, she pursued a degree as a registered nurse from Missouri Baptist Nursing School. She devoted her time to the Jefferson County Health Department as a school nurse for Sunrise R-IX School District for 20 years. Her greatest joy was being “Nana” and attending the school and extracurricular events of her grandchildren. You could find her cheering them on at dance competitions, pageants, lacrosse games, track events and choir concerts. She loved cooking, planning family gatherings and making holidays memorable. She will be remembered for her fun and sassy personality. Born March 22, 1944, in Steele, she was the daughter of J.R. and Lola Kinningham.

She is survived by her husband: Ralph Cassidy; a daughter: Jennifer (Chad) Vanlandingham; a son: Scott (Tina) Cassidy; four grandchildren: Lauren Vanlandingham, Jack Vanlandingham, Jillian Thomlison and Nathan Thomlison; a brother: Bill Moore; and many other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by a sister: Jean Turner.
