Harness, Norman

Norman L. “Butch” Harness, 75, of Herculaneum died Jan. 25, 2025, at his home. Mr. Harness retired as a supervisor for the Missouri Department of Transportation and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He also was a life member of B.P.O.E. 689. An avid golfer, he would organize and schedule golf outings with his fellow golfers. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and being involved in his grandchildren’s activities. Born Nov. 7, 1949, in De Soto, he was the son of the late Pauline (Mallery) Harness and Lester Harness Jr. He was the stepson of the late Margaret “Babe” (Pashia) Harness.

He is survived by his wife: Linda S. (Portell) Harness of Herculaneum; two children: Doug (Gena) Harness of Fenton and Danny (Rachel) Harness of Festus; a stepdaughter: Holly (Randall) Stringfield of Herculaneum; 10 grandchildren: Ryann, Quinn, Kendall, Karsynn, Tyler, Brody, Reese, Ashton, Lili and Elaynah; three siblings: Ken Harness of Bonne Terre, Lester Harness III of De Soto and Renee (Dennis Carr) Harness of Indianapolis; and many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by a brother: Paul “Mike” Pashia.

Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., in De Soto. A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
