Nancy Lee Dowd, 72, of Festus died March 19, 2025, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mrs. Dowd was a member of the Community of Christ Church in Bismarck. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was proud of her children and grandchildren. She and her husband spent 38 years serving the community with their American Family Insurance Agency in Festus. She loved watching the St. Louis Cardinals play baseball every spring and summer. Born May 31, 1952, in Bismarck, she was the daughter of the late Stacy Irene (Brooks) and Denver Counts.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years: Larry Dowd; a daughter: Melissa (Matt) Krimmel of Union; a son: Jason (Mary Pickett) Dowd of Festus; 13 grandchildren: Clarissa, Richelle, Morgan, Shannon, Karter, Aiden, Jace, Henry, Kassandra, Kiersten, Kristopher, Karson and Kendall; and three siblings: Shelby Sue (the late Oscar, Jr.) Degonia of Bismarck, Margaret (Jeff) Schroeder of St. Louis and Tammy Masson of Potosi.
She was preceded in death by two brothers: Denver Douglas Counts and Robert “Bobby” Counts.
Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. until services at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 23, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus, officiated by Pastor Mariam Counts. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
