Cox, Michael

Michael Wayne “Mike” Cox, 74, of Middlebrook died July 22, 2024, at his home. Mr. Cox was a member of Carpenter Local 5. He worked in both residential and commercial construction until he retired. He also was a member of American Legion 283. Mr. Cox loved to fish and hunt and be outdoors watching the wildlife near his home. He also enjoyed working on old cars and restoring them. Born July 3, 1950, in Parma, he was the son of the late Willard Wilson and Opal Irene (Richards) Cox.

He is survived by three children: Sandra (Patrick) Watz of Festus,  Melanie (Paul) Keena of Dexter and Amy (Terry) Jones of Fulton; a brother: Roger (the late Jan) Cox of Hazelhurst, Wis.; two sisters: Barbara (Printes) White of Pierceville, Kan., and Sharon (Robert) Greemore of Portageville; seven grandsons: Mason, Myles, Parker, Michael, Tucker, Hudson and Oliver; and many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by three brothers: Luther “Junior” Cox, Johnny Cox and Robert Cox; and four sisters: Alice Wheeler, Cathy Taylor, Freda Long and Ruth Karnes.

Mr. Cox requested to be cremated and interred at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield. A private gathering for family and friends will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Bryson Funeral Home in Pilot Knob.
