Derque, Michael

Michael Wayne Derque, 71, of Ste. Genevieve, formerly of Goose Creek, died May 24, 2025, at his home. Mr. Derque worked in the sand mines at Unimin, The PPG Industry, Georgia Marble and many other jobs such as roofing, fencing, building pole barns and tree trimming. He was both an outdoorsman and a mentor to others on topics about wildlife, fishing spots, trapping, hunting, arrowheads and mushroom hunting. He enjoyed being outdoors, mowing the grass, fishing with his friends at the lake and searching creek beds for arrowheads. He also enjoyed watching his favorite sports teams and spending time with family and friends, often sharing stories and knowledge. Born Aug. 5, 1953, in Danby, he was the son of the late Doris (Akins) LaVerne and Frederick Martin Derque.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Linda Sue (Roberts) Derque.

He is survived by four children: Logan Michael Curtis (Ashley) Derque of Ste. Genevieve, Joshua Wayne (Paige) Derque of Morgantown, Ky., Melissa G. Reiss of Eureka and Beau Michael Derque of De Soto; a brother: Grant (Kelli) Derque of Festus; two sisters: Denise Lynn Clippard of Festus and Pamela Renee (Bret) Meese of Festus; six grandchildren: Jace Michael Derque, Jonathan Derque, Abigale Derque, Kathryn Derque, Vincent Reiss, and Daniella Reiss; and many other family members and friends.

A celebration of life will take place at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
