Shaw, Michael

Michael P. Shaw, 82, of Festus died June 5, 2026. Mr. Shaw was a member of the Christian Outreach Center, MENSA and the Hillsboro Lions Club. He earned his bachelor's degree in business from Ohio University and his master's of divinity from Christian Outreach School of Ministries. He loved motorcycles and, as a young man, he belonged to motorcycle clubs in Portsmouth. He was known as a very patriotic man. His career as a successful salesman earned him numerous awards and promotions. He was a skilled pianist, an avid reader and valued learning all his life. He loved spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. Born June 13, 1943, in Portsmouth, Ohio, he was the son of the late Joseph and Helen (Mead) Shaw.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years: Margaret (Burns) Shaw, whom he had loved since they were teenagers; a son: Joey (Jennifer) Shaw; a daughter: Mary Shaw; seven grandchildren: Tyler Shaw, Trey (Jamie) Shaw, Hanna Shaw, Wesley (Kaylee) Woodward, Mya Woodward, Kai Woodward and Finnley Adams; his in-laws: Marion Ackerman, Esther Parker and Mary Smelko; many nieces and nephews; and numerous other family members and friends. 

He was preceded in death by two sons: Michael Anthony Shaw and Scott Edward Shaw; and his in-laws: Constance (Burns) Ackerman, Bob Berry, Catharine (Burns) Berry, Bill Parker and Bill Smelko.

Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. today, June 9, at Christian Outreach Church, 4430 Outreach Drive, in Hillsboro, 63050. A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 10, at the church, with a graveside service to follow the ceremony. Memorials may be made to Christian Outreach Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary.
