Michael Dennis Postal, 75, of St. Louis died July 27, 2025, at Manor Grove in St. Louis. Mr. Postal was proud to have spent 43 years working as a locomotive engineer for Union Pacific. When he wasn’t on the rails, he loved being outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, bird watching, taking his grandkids out on the pontoon boat and riding his side-by-side. He loved animals, especially his dogs, Buddy and Rosie. He loved tinkering around the house and spending time with family and pets. Born Aug. 11, 1949, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late William and Flora C. (Hogan) Postal.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years: Mary Ellen (Freeman) Postal of St. Louis, whom he married on Feb. 3, 1979, in Farmington; two daughters: Angela (Matthew Murphy) Postal and Katherine Postal, both of St. Louis; a brother: Richard (Kathleen) Postal of Weldon Springs; two sisters: Nancy (David) Lewis of Highlands Ranch, Colo., and Mary (Larry) Sheetz of Harvard, Ill.; two grandchildren: Virginia and Arthur Postal Murphy; and many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by a brother: Bill Postal Jr.

A memorial visitation is scheduled from 1 p.m. until a memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, at Mahn Twin City Chapel, 515 Collins Ave., in Festus. Memorials may be made to Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Twin City Chapel.
