Melody Cheryl Causey, 77, of Barnhart died Aug. 20, 2025, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Ms. Causey retired from Health and Human Services in Waterloo, Ill., having worked with adults who are handicapped. She was a member of the Arnold Church of Christ. She enjoyed cats, reading, sewing and journaling. She was known for her quirky side and her willingness to help others. Born Jan. 31, 1948, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Melvin Firmin and Ruby Alice (Radford) Robinson.
She is survived by a daughter: Sheila Marie (Tracy) Jones; a son: James Ray (Nikki) Keys; six grandchildren: China Rae Parris, Nikolai Kronk, Casey Lee Jones, Paige Rachéle Watson, William Dean Watson and Cameren James Keys; three great-grandchildren: Zane Kronk, Lexi Riley and Addy Riley; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by a brother: Firmin Robinson; and a sister: Peggy Joan Marks.
Visitation from 11 a.m. until funeral services at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, at Leesman Funeral Home, 326 S Main St., in Dupo, Ill., officiated by the Rev. Don Bahr. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Stray Rescue of St. Louis. Arrangements are under the direction of Leesman Funeral Home.
