Mary M. Mitchell, 94, of De Soto died Nov. 3, 2024, at Garden View Nursing Facility in Valley Park. Mrs. Mitchell retired as a cashier from Kroger. She was a member of UFCW Local 655 and of Redeemer Lutheran Church in De Soto. Born July 16, 1930, in De Soto, she was the daughter of the late Sylvester and Stella (Johnson) Ladd.
She was preceded in death by her husband: George “Red” Mitchell.
She is survived by two children: Debra Mitchell of Manchester, Mo., and Donnie (the late Cheryl) Mitchell of De Soto; a grandchild: Jessica (Jacob) Coleman; and two great-grandchildren: Emma and Barrett; and many other family members and friends.
She also was preceded in death by three sisters: Dorothy (Spud) Brinkman, Sylvia (Tony) Datillo and Margaret (Bud) Moore; and two brothers: Floyd (Lucille) Ladd and Tom (Theresa) Ladd.
Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. until services at noon Thursday, Nov. 7, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1620 Boyd St., in De Soto, officiated by the Rev. Dr. G. Michael Rose. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Alternative Hospice or the American Heart Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home in De Soto.
