Mary Helen (Peterson) Sims, 92, of Dittmer died Jan. 1, 2026, in Arnold. Mrs. Sims was a homemaker. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in High Ridge. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit and kind heart. Born Sept. 24, 1933, in Tipton, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late Izora (Gorley) and Joe Peterson.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Floyd Sims.
She is survived by a daughter: Anita (Charles) Phillips of Eureka; a son: Floyd Sims Jr. of Dittmer; six grandchildren: Chuck Phillips Jr., Shelly Gerren, Stacey Schwartz, Susan Elmore, Kayla Skiled and Katelyn Sims; nine great-grandchildren; and three siblings: Clark Peterson of Union, Roy Clifford (Sandy) Peterson of Illinois and Daniel Peterson of Dittmer.
She also was preceded in death by a sister: Edna Ray; two brothers: Marshall Peterson and Joe Peterson; and a grandson: Bryan Phillips.
Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. until services at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9, at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Hwy. 30, in Cedar Hill. Burial will take place in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary in Cedar Hill.
