Myers, Mary Alice

Mary Alice Smith Myers, 95, of De Soto died Dec. 19, 2023, at Crystal Oaks Nursing Facility in Crystal City. Mrs. Myers was District Secretary for State Rep. Bud Lewis. She worked at Bill Bray Buick, John Dickinson Auto Sales and Mike Klaus State Farm. She was a member of Amvets Post 48 Auxiliary where she held many local, district and state offices including the Missouri Department President of the Amvets Auxiliary in 1991-92 and 1997-99. She also was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and was very active at her church, De Soto Community Church of God. Born July 6, 1928, in De Soto, she was the daughter of the late Ethel A. (Blackwell) John F. Leach.

She was preceded in death by her husbands: Wilfred P. Smith and the late F. Harold Myers.

She is survived by four children: Richard (Cathy) Smith of San Diego, Calif., Mary (Juan) Mendez of St. Louis, Douglas (Angie) Smith of De Soto and Patrick (Adrienne) Myers of De Soto; eight grandchildren:  Kelley (Ray), Erin, Ian (Alicia), Ruthie (Cory), Dylan, Caitlin (Brandon), Matthew and Brian; nine great-grandchildren: Madison, Tyler, Chase, Griffin, Vivian, Preston, Mira, Farron and Lilian; and a sibling: Elizabeth “Betty” (the late Robert Dutch) Mueller of De Soto.

She was preceded in death by a son: Mark Smith; and a sister: Ida Lee Windle.

Visitation is scheduled from 3-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., in De Soto. A service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 5, at the funeral home, officiated by the Revs. Gene Moses and Ron Kulp. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in De Soto. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
