Mark Frederick Funston, 78, of Herculaneum died Jan. 12, 2026, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mr. Funston worked as a salesman for Amerigas. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. Born March 26, 1947, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Elizabeth (Johnston) and Walter Funston.
He is survived by his wife: Bonnie (Hale) Funston; two sons: Jeff (Denise) Funston of Festus and Kevin (Tricia) Funston of Sparta, Ill.; three grandchildren: Avery Funston, Maggie Funston and Delaney Funston; and a sister: Kathy (Gary) Wise of Robertsville.
He was preceded in death by two brothers: Jim Funston and Bill Funston.
Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, at Vinyard Hillcrest Funeral Home, 9115 Commercial Blvd., in Pevely. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 16, at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Jackson Watts. Interment will be in Shepherd Hills Cemetery in Barnhart. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Hillcrest Funeral Home.
