Margaret Mary “Maggie” Thompson Peters, 80, of Festus died Nov. 10, 2025, at her home. Mrs. Peters, known as “Bope” after her role in the school play Little Bo Peep and “Maggie,” and her 12 siblings were raised on a farm where they developed a strong work ethic and Catholic values. She was a former member of St. Joachim Church of Old Mines and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Crystal City. She worked as a licensed cosmetologist and beauty instructor and was the owner/operator of Silks and Styles salon in Herculaneum. She later became a licensed real estate broker and retired from Re-Max All Stars. After retirement, she enjoyed selling Paparazzi jewelry and creating new friendships. She was known for her warmth, kindness and joy. She loved telling old family stories, crocheting, playing a game of cards and snuggling with her dogs, Sophie and Sadie. Most of all, she enjoyed gatherings with family and friends, often hosting holiday celebrations, barbecues, birthday and swimming parties. Born Sept. 7, 1945, in Old Mines, she was the daughter of the late Helen Lou (Aly) Wall and George E. Wall.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Ronald Ray “Pete” Peters.

She is survived by a son: Robert D. “Bobby” (Dawn) Thompson II of Festus; a daughter: Lisa (Steven) Bachek of Festus; former spouse: Robert D. (Virginia) Thompson of Herculaneum; four grandchildren: Beau Thompson of Kansas City, Blaine Thompson of Festus, Amanda (Ryan) Quinn of Coral Springs, Fla., and Tabitha (David “Nick”) Fortney of Festus; a great-grandson: Maddix Brendan Quinn; two sisters: Sharon “Blossy” (the late Kenneth) Sansoucie of Potosi and Judith “Jude Dolly” Wall of Potosi; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by two brothers: Tim Wall and George Wall; and eight sisters: Glenda Reando, Dorothy “Tut” Portell, Joyce “Turkey” Christopher, Georgeann Cash, Rose Wall, Helen “Chicken” Wall, Rebecca “Blanche” Queen and Susan Sansoucie.

Visitation is scheduled from 9 -11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St. in Festus. A funeral Mass will follow at noon at St. Joachim Catholic Church, Old Mines, 10120 Crest Road, in Cadet, officiated by Father Anthony Dattilo, with interment in St. Joachim Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Joachim Church, Old Mines. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
