Fitzgerald, Margaret

Margaret Fitzgerald, 94, of Cape Girardeau died Oct. 29, 2024, at The Arbors of Capetown in Cape Girardeau. Mrs. Fitzgerald retired as an elementary school teacher having taught for a short time at De Soto and then at Hillsboro. She was a member of Hillsboro United Methodist Church. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, cooking and gardening. Born Oct. 16, 1930, in Sedalia, she was the daughter of the late Harry Edward and Mary (Boyle) Weber.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Donald Fitzgerald.

She is survived by two children: John (Jane) Fitzgerald of Cape Girardeau and Jane Fitzgerald of Spring Hill, Kan.; a sister-in-law: Merlin Weber of De Soto; two grandchildren: Tyler (Cory) Fitzgerald and Lori (Jonathan) Bequette; two great-grandchildren: Isaiah and Alex; nieces and nephews and their families: Jan (Dave) Rigdon, Kathy (David) Bertrand, Bill (Mary Jean) Weber, Mary Margaret Rogers, Charles (Linda) Weber, Jim (Lori) Weber, Douglas Weber, David (Alberta) Weber and Susan (Scott) Baum.

She also was preceded in death by a sister: Mary Alice Weber; three brothers: James (Dorothy) Weber, William “Bill” Weber and Charles (Lois) Weber; and a nephew: Kirk Weber.

A graveside service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 4, at City Cemetery in De Soto, officiated by the Rev. Kayla Roe. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home in De Soto.
