Sinclair, Lonnie

Lonnie Gene Sinclair, 91, of Barnhart died Aug. 3, 2024, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield. Mr. Sinclair, also known as “L.G.” and “Bud” to friends and family, graduated from Bismarck High School in 1951. In 2015, he was inducted into the Bismarck High School Hall of Fame for his service at the Windsor C-1 School District in Imperial as a teacher and coach of four sports from 1957 to 1996. He also graduated from Murray State University in Kentucky with a bachelor’s degree and served two years in Japan in the U.S. Army. He was married to Darlene, also a now retired Windsor School teacher, at the United Methodist Church of Bismarck on September 7th, 1957. Mr. Sinclair enjoyed collecting sad irons, going antiquing and visiting the Pevely Flea Market every weekend. He also made furniture and did woodworking. Most of all, he loved teaching and coaching his students and being with his family. He was very proud of having the Windsor C-1 Industrial Technology Center dedicated to him on February 9, 2003. He also was a member of the Pressing Iron and Trivet Collectors of America. Born May 29, 1933, in Bismarck, he was the son of Walter Benjamin and Faye Allene (Henderson) Sinclair.

He is survived by his wife: Darlene Ann Sinclair of Barnhart; two daughters: Debra (Larry) Kohler of Barnhart and Susan (Traci Reach) Sinclair of Creal Springs, Ill.; four grandchildren: Calvin (Jacqueline Albrizzi) Kohler, Brittany (John) Kitners, Lee (Tiffani) Kohler and Jordan (Jennefer) Sinclair; three great-grandchildren: Bailey Kitners, Jase Kitners and Daniel Kohler; and many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by a son: David Edward Sinclair; a brother: Nelson Sinclair; and his two sisters: Virginia Freer and Faye Day.

A memorial visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until a memorial service at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, at Mahn Twin City Chapel, 515 Collins Drive, in Festus, officiated by Ryan Sutton. Burial will follow in the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Bismarck. Memorials may be made to the Windsor C-1 School District for the Industrial Arts Program or the Athletic Department. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Twin City Chapel.
