
Lindell P. “Phillip” Rowe Jr., 83, of Festus died Sept. 20, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis. After graduating from De Soto High School and attending Missouri School of Mines, Mr. Rowe came back to De Soto to work at the family-owned Hamel and Rowe Hardware Store. In 1969, he ventured into his own business forming Trio Amusement Co. In 1974, his brother, Rich, joined Trio Amusement as a partner. With his brother, he owned and operated Trio Amusement Co. until they both retired. Mr. Rowe was a lifelong member of Trinity Episcopal Church in De Soto. He served in the Missouri National Guard and was a member of Amvets Post 48. He was also a member of B.P.O.E. 689, where he was a very active supporter of their Holiday Food Basket Program. He enjoyed restoring and showing classic cars, especially 1957 Chevys. Born Feb. 5, 1941, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Florence Ethel “Chick” (Hamel) and Lindell P. “Dude” Rowe Sr.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Sylvia “Sibby” (Hill) Rowe.
He is survived by a son: Jeff Rowe of De Soto; two sisters: Carol Lynn Baxter of Minneapolis, Minn., and Lee Ellen (Don) Hogan of Festus; two brothers: Richard “Richie” (Dolores) Rowe of Bonne Terre and Stevan “Steve” Rowe of De Soto; and a group of nieces and nephews.
He also was preceded in death by a son: Jason Rowe; a sister: Susan Gail Rowe; and a brother-in-law: Gerald Baxter.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until services at noon Wednesday, Sept. 25, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home Chapel, 220 N. Main, in De Soto, officiated by the Rev. Gene Moses. Burial will be in Rowe Cemetery in Valles Mines. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
