Lester Harold Doerner, 75, of Hillsboro died Jan. 25, 2024, at his home. After graduating from Hillsboro High School in 1966, Mr. Doerner served in the U.S. Navy from 1967 to 1973. After his discharge, he began his career at Jefferson County Surveying. He was active in youth sports and enjoyed feeding animals, photographing wildlife, antiquing, woodworking craft cranes and making friends. Born Jan. 30, 1948, in Princeton, Ind., he was the son of the late Audrey (Lecocq) and Beverly Doerner.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years: Terry Leah (Hurtgen) Doerner.
He is survived by two sons: Robert (Traci) Doerner and Douglas Doerner; a daughter: Amanda (Kate) Ward; three siblings: Richard, Patricia and Teresa Doerner; and two grandsons: Robbie and Nick Doerner.
He was preceded in death by two in-laws: Robert and Shirley Hurtgen.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert D. Brown Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
