Akers, Larry

Larry James Akers, 77, of De Soto died Aug. 23, 2025, at his home in Farmington. Mr. Akers worked as a laborer for Labor Union 110 and superintendent of Montgomery and Associates. He enjoyed spending time with his family and dogs, Ruby and Buddy, gambling and watching the Kansas City Chiefs. Born Nov. 7, 1947, in Allenton, he was the son of the late James and Edna Akers.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Ruth Akers.

He is survived by four children: Larry Akers Jr., James Akers, April Seeburger and Teresa Akers; two stepchildren: Kimberly (Scott) Rudolph and Richard Hunziker; seven grandchildren: Dylan Ross, Desirae (Jarrett) Gawel, Dakotah Seeburger, Kevin (Aileen) Rudolph, Gary (Abby) Rudolph, Sicillya Hunziker and Richard Hunziker II; two sisters: Joan (Jim) Bourn and Dixiee Otteson; numerous other relatives and many friends.

He also was preceded in death by a stepson: Ronald Hunziker; four brothers: Bill Akers, Delano Akers, George Akers and Gerald Akers; and four sisters: Emma Cooper, Ruby Conway, Helen Stuart and Delores Akers.

Visitation is scheduled from 4 p.m. until services at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, at Mahn Funeral Home, 900 N Main St., in De Soto. Burial will follow in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks.
