Larry Dee Sallis, 79, of Festus died Aug. 8, 2026, at Crystal Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation. Mr. Sallis retired as payroll administrator for the Union Pacific Car Shop in De Soto. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and B.P.O.E 1721. He belonged to many bass fishing federations and fished all over the world. Born Jan. 14, 1947, in Dallas, Texas, He was the son of the late Harrel and Mary Jo (Barnett) Sallis.
He is survived by his wife: Jan K. (Preston) Sallis of Festus; four children: James Sallis of St. Louis, Laura (Mark) Phipps of De Soto, Kristin (Michael) Stillman of Festus and Jeff (Stacie) Gendron of St. Louis; nine grandchildren: Andy, Caroline (Pasko Cvrljak), Aaron (Carly), Gavin, Leila, Katelyn, Laine, Hattie and Eliza; four great-grandchildren: Penelope, Kynzlie, Zoei and Corbin with one more on the way.
He was preceded in death by his first wife: Nancy (Wilkins) Sallis.
Visitation is scheduled from 5 p.m. until an Elks service at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., in De Soto. Another visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until a funeral service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 221 Brierton Lane, in Festus. Interment is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, in Sumner Cemetery in Cabot, Ark. Memorials may be made to the Festus Fishing Team & Outdoor, c/o Shannon Crump, 1205 N. Truman Blvd., Crystal City, 63019. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
