Kathleen P. “Kathy” (Rush) Rhymer, 82, of Arnold died July 19, 2025. Mrs. Rhymer enjoyed adventure and travels with her husband and family and took trips to many places, including Ireland, Quebec and Lake St. Clair. She loved children and pets and feeding them snacks. During one period, she and her husband owned a vending business, so she always had snacks on hand, including candy and soda. She enjoyed telling stories about her childhood and spending time with friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her loving nature, empathy, compassion, patience, humor and open-mindedness. Born Jan. 15, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Dorothy Diederichsen and William Rush.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years: Robert E. “Bob” Rhymer; four children: Bob (Donna) Sweeney, Mary (Jill Vogel) Sweeney, Patrick (Julie) Sweeney and Jim (Denna) Sweeney; seven grandchildren: Allison (Daris), Sean (Kris), Molly (Robbie), Alex, Connor, Kevin and Sydney; six great-grandchildren: Aniyah, Gabriel, Logan, Grayson, Kaiser and Rozlyn; and a sister: Patti Rush.
She was preceded in death by a grandchild: Jessica; a great-grandchild: Mason; and a sibling: Mary Ellen Shortland.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until a memorial service at noon Saturday, July 26, at Kutis South County Chapel, 5255 Lemay Ferry Road, in St. Louis County. Memorials may be made to The American Red Cross, Open Door Animal Sanctuary or Mercy Hospice. The family extends their thanks to Mercy Hospice for their care, comfort and support. Arrangements are under the direction of Kutis South County Chapel.
